I'm on a roll since I've been gone for a while. In truth, I've been absorbed by the ALCS and the World Series for the last 2 weeks. Gotta watch my Yanks....

Anyway, some of the other things I want to remember to post about are:

* The hunt for a midwife
* My new career

Another really cool aspect of being pregnant for the first time is that you are sudden member of the Mommy Story club. Mere acquaintances will come to you and share their pregnancy stories. Sometimes, the stories are gory or painful (some women revel in the "negative" stuff), but now it's like other mothers can identify with me. Baby now brings with me an instant ice-breaker and conversation starter. In fact, at work, I get to find a more personal side of people when they discuss their kids and their experiences with pregnancy. That's the neat thing. I see people that were "all business" melting and becoming human. It's quite a transformation!

Now unfortunately, ladies, you WILL get tons of unsolicited advice. That just goes with the territory. If you just politely nod your head and ignore half of it, you'll be OK. Actually, some of the unsolicited advice has been helpful. Another tip that my DSIL (my brother's wife) gave me is: never tell people the bad stuff that is happening with your pregnancy. This is truly a wise piece of advice. It is so true, the minute you mention morning sickness, constipation or anything awful, you are automatically entered in the "oh yeah, my experience was the worst" contest. No thanks. Truthfully, though, pregnancy has been wonderful to me. It hasn't been perfect, but I never suffered greatly from morning sickness, which is enough to be thankful for! It's been easy for me to avoid the "negative" topics, because there haven't been too many negative things with this pregnancy.

Well, I'm off to make all my phone calls and tell everybody the news about baby being a boy....

I have become an eBay fiend! I've been shopping there for nursing clothes and nursing bras. Sorry about getting TMI, but you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find nursing clothes that look decent and don't cost a fortune. I found a lady who converts regular clothes into nursing clothes and got a few outfits from her. The quality of the clothing is just OK though, so I don't think I'll be buying many more outfits from her.

I also scored a nice red Motherhood nursing T-shirt and a Motherhood denim shirt. I figure if I can get 7 tops, I should be covered. And, I figure I'm paying about half price for these clothes. I don't mind gently used items. I just can't see paying $50 retail for a nursing shirt! Also, I'm getting feedbacks (up to 12!!), so my eBay "pedigree" is steadily improving.

I'm also scoring a few bras as well. Got my 2nd eBay bra in the mail today. Believe it or not, the first one was too small!!!! I'm actually having to order a larger size... yikes!!! DH says I'm going to drown the baby!!! LOL! I'll probably be able to use the "smaller" one a few months after baby comes.

Well, we found out what baby is today!!! DH got to see baby with the ultrasound and baby is a Boy!!!
Needless to say, DH is ecstatic. He's already looking for golf clubs for baby.

Both the technician and the Dr. took a lot of good pictures of baby and so far, he is 9oz and appears healthy. It's so amazing, we were able to see his arms, legs, ribs, kidneys.... I could go on. The creation of a baby is such an amazing thing. There is no way that these kind of things happen by chance, there is definitely a Creator involved with all this amazing development.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. - Psalm 139:13

How cool is this: I came home from Bible Study on Wednesday night to find that DH made the bed and got me a body pillow!!! He is so sweet! He just wanted to "get something to show me that he loves me and was thinking of me". Is he a romantic, or what!!??

Even though the Yankees lost tonight after 12 innings in Game 4 of the World Series, I'm excited about my present. I slept through the game and woke up wondering if they won or not. Well, now back to my sleep and my wonderful body pillow!!! Good night!

Alright, so sue me.... Nobody said this was a daily journal.... LOL... I have been remiss in posting though, and would like to give you an update on baby and me...

Life has just been crazy lately. I'm in my 2nd trimester and the so-called "Energizer Bunny" phase just did not materialize for me yet. I was still feeling tired and like things were spinning out of control. My thyroid bloodwork last week confirmed that my TSH level was very high, indicating underactivity. (I've got a broken thyroid and take a synthetic hormone daily). This explained a lot of things.... For instance, I gained 2 lbs in a week. I was still sleeping on the train even though I was getting a full night's sleep. I even had my second meltdown when I could not find my modem for work on Tuesday. (First memorable meltdown happened in August, when I ran out of plastic containers for packing lunches for work.... It's ironic that I'm a moderator for the Get Organized Now! Forum!!! Ackkkk!!!)

Now, mind you, the symptoms above may be kind of normal for pregnancy. But things were just not adding up for me until I got my bloodwork results. Then it was like, yeah, no wonder I've been feeling psychotic lately!!! Dr. and I have been adjusting my meds and I'm feeling much better now. I've also been really focusing on getting my 8 glasses of water a day and kept my weight level since last week. I have more energy now and actually need less naps. Trust me, when you take thyroid meds and your levels are off, you feel it!! I must say though, there is nothing like a power nap on the double decker MARC trains. The chairs are really comfy and I guess the hum and rumble of the train is akin to what a baby feels when they are irritable and go for a car ride. Ahhh.....

Baby is still treating me fairly well. I feel rumblings and activity in my belly and know that baby is lurking around. Some days seem to pass without incident though and it makes me wonder if it is all just still gas. I had DH take a picture of me so I can post my pregnancy progress. I was wearing a baggy shirt, so you can't really tell much yet, but I do have a cute round belly. I'm wearing my maternity cargo pants that my DSIL gave me as a birthday gift, my favorite goldenrod turtleneck and a cool denim shirt that I found at a yard sale! I will try to take and post a picture every month wearing this same outfit so that you can see the progression of baby!!

Can I just tell you, my nails are beautiful!!! Mind you, I'm not one of those women that do my nails. I specifically will NOT paint them because I know I'd walk around for months with chipped paint on my nails. (My baby DS, the manicure queen, would be horrified!!) Usually, it's like, "Hello, where's the nail file..." But now, my nails are growing so nicely that I do have to file them and they are looking pretty good!!! I still haven't painted them because I think it is so icky to walk around with paint chips on your nails, and I can't trust myself. Maybe a nice clear coat, yeah....

Had a few slices of Squisito pizza with DH today on the way home from the MD Rennaissance Faire. I loaded mine with spinach, brocolli and fresh tomatoes and it was yummy.... Not a bad slice of Neopolitano for living in Maryland! Baby loved the extra veggies, no trouble digesting the pizza this time! DH is a convert too. We love Squisito's, and it's walking distance from the house!
